A Whirlwind Q4, Quiet Holidays, and New Beginnings for 2025

Hello, stunning souls!

It feels like ages since I last checked in here, so let me start by saying I’ve missed writing to you! Life has been a whirlwind, and as we’ve crossed the threshold into 2025, I find myself reflecting on just how busy (and rewarding!) the last few months have been.

Professionally, Q4 was a ride. In my role as COO at a marketing firm, we completed an acquisition—an equally exhilarating and exhausting process. For those who’ve been through something similar, you’ll know how thrilling it is to see the potential for growth and synergy while managing the countless moving pieces. There were late nights, tough decisions, and a lot of celebratory coffee (and maybe some celebratory prosecco!) along the way. But standing on this side of the finish line, I’m proud of what we accomplished and optimistic about the opportunities ahead.

On the personal side, I found myself wearing even more hats than usual. I did far more speaking and coaching than I typically do during the fall and winter months, culminating in leading an international Being ATHENA cohort—a program that’s so close to my heart. Coaching others to step into their power and lead authentically never fails to fill my cup, even when my schedule is overflowing. To top it off, I took a last-minute trip to Hawaii (hello, bucket list!)

The recent election brought a heavy emotional weight. Watching a well-qualified Black woman lose to a candidate who represents so much of what I fear was gut-wrenching. I know many of you can relate, regardless of which side of the aisle you’re on, to the sense of loss when your vision for the future doesn’t align with the outcome. Navigating these emotions while respecting that 50% of people don’t share my views has been an exercise in empathy and resilience.

After such a full Q4, the holidays were a much-needed respite. I took two weeks off and hunkered down at home, soaking in time with family. My kids are growing up faster than I can keep up with, and the holidays were a perfect time to create memories and indulge in the magic of Santa at a slower pace.

With the new year comes new goals and hobbies. I’ve embarked on a quest to master the art of omelette making. There’s something deeply satisfying about attempting to perfect a seemingly simple dish, and I’m enjoying the process (and the taste-testing).

I’m also dreaming of spring and diving into plans for the 2025 gardening season. My greenhouse is begging for some intentional love this year, and I’ve been reading up on how to maximize its potential. If you have tips or favorite gardening resources, I’m all ears!

Winter months are perfect for indulging in books and learning, and I’ve been savoring this time. I started the year by revisiting Atomic Habits by James Clear—a book that never fails to inspire me. His daily email and app have also been fantastic tools for staying focused on small, meaningful changes.

On a recommendation, I’ve picked up Everybody Always by Bob Goff. While I don’t share Goff’s Christian faith, his radical love and kindness message resonates deeply. It’s a reminder of how we can show up for one another, even when it feels hard.

What about you? How are you spending these winter months? What are you reading, learning, or dreaming about as we dive into 2025? I’d love to hear what’s been filling your days and inspiring your heart.

Wishing you a year of growth, connection, and maybe a few perfectly cooked omelettes.

Love and light,

Shelley
