Love Yourself
February…the month of love. This is the time when many of us treat those who love the most with gifts, words of affection, and quality time. I’m a hopeless romantic and oftentimes make Valentine gifts for my husband and always give my kiddos a box of chocolates and a card.
As meaningful as the tradition of demonstrating love to others is to me, self-love is also something that I am committed to. For me, this personal promise grounds me and gives me the energy and grace to give to others. My routine is simple, but it charges my battery and set me up for the day—it’s my weekday morning ritual and it looks like this:
· Wake up at 5 AM and move my body
· Meditate for at least five minutes
· Shower by candlelight with healing frequencies playing
· Listen to a book while I’m getting my makeup on
I don’t check my emails, text messages or look at the news headlines until I have completed this ritual and have myself in the right energy space for the day. When I step out of my room I am refreshed and ready to handle whatever the day in store for me.
As you think about honoring those you love this week (and always), I encourage you to add your name to the list. We can only be as connected with others as we are to ourselves.
Love and light,
Shelley
