Slow Down…Healing in Progress

I have to say, I was pretty damn proud of the way I came out of the gates of 2023. Armed with my goals, a weeklong vacation and birthday on the horizon…I felt unstoppable.

My vacation was amazing, relaxing, restorative and everything I had hopped for. I spent time in the sun (while carefully applying and reapplying sunscreen), finished three books, hit the gym, hydrated, ate amazingly fresh food and enjoyed plenty of quality time with my hubby. We got home on a Saturday, so I had plenty of time to get reacclimated to the “real world”.

Monday was a blur of activity, so I barely had time eat. Tuesday was more of the same; meetings, catching up on work, sparce eating, little water. When the headache set in, I was sure it was from a lack on hydration. After a 12+ hour day, I went to bed to sleep it off. I awoke at 3 AM and knew a lack of hydration wasn’t the issue…I was sick!

The universe has a funny way of humbling and reminding you who is really in charge. No matter what’s on your to-do list, dream board or calendar, sometimes you’ve change course and slow down without letting it get you down or off track.

There are valuable lessons available every day. Last week I learned that while I love a to-do list and packed calendar, it doesn’t define me or my success. I was reminded of the importance of listening to my body and giving it what it needs. I embraced the time being at home in my comfy clothes, drinking my favorite teas and slowing down my pace.

I look forward to coming back full strength soon. Until then, I’m grateful to have a cozy home, comfy bed and loving family who dote on me.

Love and light,

~Shelley
